Looking for an aesthetically pleasing and highly durable glass balustrade for your home or business? SWR’s Aluminium Channel 6000 system is engineered to precise dimensions with the highest standards maintained at every stage of manufacture. Easy to install, fully tested for safety and durability, and available in four finishes including any RAL colour. Tested systems supporting BS 6180 applications up to 1.5kN/m, depending on configuration. Suitable for interior and exterior applications.
The Aluminium Channel 6000 system is supplied as a complete channel set with your choice of glass, handrail profile and finish. Pre-matched at specification stage.
Precision-engineered aluminium base channel, manufactured to exact dimensions. Available in 0.74kN and 1.5kN load classifications depending on configuration. Glass type, glass thickness, anchor type and fixing centres all affect the available rating. Available in floor-fixed and side-fixed configurations, fixed to a suitable supporting structure. Fixings must be selected and verified for the actual substrate.
Toughened and laminated glass panels set into the base channel. Panel height and thickness matched to your load rating and system specification. Cut to size.
Round stainless steel handrail available in both AISI304 and AISI316 to combine with your channel system.
Mill finish, plain aluminium, stainless steel effect and colour coating as standard. Any RAL colour available to order. Consistent finish across channel, caps and accessories.
Full installation guide supplied with every order. Configurator-generated component list included for straightforward site assembly.
Use the Aluminium Channel 6000 configurator to quickly design your system and generate an accurate quote. Select your preferred style, measurements and options — the tool guides you through each step. Once complete, you’ll receive a tailored product list and pricing based on your exact requirements.
Each system below achieves a clean, contemporary glass balustrade through a different fixing method, material or function. The right choice depends on your substrate, your aesthetic, your application and how much you want to spend.
FRAMELESS · AISI304/AISI316 · FLOOR-FIXED
Stainless steel spigots fixed to the floor hold toughened glass panels at the base — no frame, no visible channel, no interrupted sightline. The cleanest floor line of any glass fixing method. Round-base clamps in satin-finish stainless, available in AISI304 or marine-grade AISI316. Ideal for outdoor use where the frameless look is the priority.
ROUND POSTS · AISI304/AISI316 · CORNER COMPATIBLE
Toughened glass panels held within a stainless modular post and handrail with glass adapter fixings between. The structural confidence of a post system with the open aesthetic of glass infill. Available in AISI304 or AISI316 stainless to suit indoor or exposed outdoor applications. Flexible by design, accommodating corners, steps and changes in level.
AISI304/AISI316 · RETROFIT FRIENDLY
Glass panels fixed to stainless steel stand-off adapters. The right choice where spigots can’t be used. Often popular for mezzanine decks, retrofits and interior stairs.
CONTINUOUS CHANNEL · FRAMELESS GLASS · COMMERCIAL GRADE
A continuous aluminium base channel system for frameless glass balustrades. Glass panels sit within the channel profile fixed to the floor. Widely specified in commercial settings. Supplied by OnLevel.
PRE-ASSEMBLED · SATIN ANODISED · READY TO INSTALL
A pre-assembled aluminium glass post system built around OnLevel’s 3-step installation philosophy. Square-section posts arrive fully assembled with a satin anodized finish — threads pre-drilled, clamps pre-fitted, ready to install straight out of the box. Lighter and more cost-effective than stainless steel, with the same clean post-and-glass aesthetic. Load-tested to 0.74kN, wind-rated to 1.8kN at 1,100mm centres. Suits 10mm and 13.52mm glass. Available for next-day delivery from stock.
HEIGHT-ADJUSTABLE · NO VISIBLE TOP RAIL · WIND PROTECTION
The original height-adjustable glass balustrade. A simple press raises the upper glass panel to create instant wind protection — lower it just as easily when the weather improves. Designed and manufactured in Sweden by ErgoSafe, ClickitUp combines glass, aluminium and structural glazing bonding with no visible posts or fixings. Design-protected since 2014. Available for ground-level patios, balconies and as a retrofit inside existing railings.
The Aluminium Channel 6000 system is independently certified and tested across three load ratings, making it suitable for a wide range of residential and commercial applications. Highly durable, minimal and modern in appearance — an eye-catching finish that lasts a lifetime. Combine with round, square or oval handrail for a fully complete and unique installation.
Performance specification:
– Load ratings: up to 1.5kN/m, configuration-dependent – glass specification and fixing centres must be confirmed at specification stage.
– Applications: Internal and external
– Finishes: Mill finish, plain aluminium, stainless steel effect, colour coating, any RAL
– Handrail options: Round, square or oval
– Glass: Toughened, matched to load rating

One of SWR’s most ambitious installations to date.
A glass channel balustrade uses a continuous aluminium base channel fixed to the floor surface or wall to hold toughened glass. The glass slots into the channel rather than being held by individual spigots or post clamps. The result is a clean, frameless glass balustrade with a continuous base line — widely used in commercial settings and suitable for both interior and exterior applications.
The Aluminium Channel 6000 is available in three independently certified load ratings: 0.74kN for standard residential applications, 1.5kN for heavier residential and light commercial use, and 3kN for commercial applications with higher barrier load requirements. Confirm your application at quote stage and we’ll specify the correct load rating.
Yes. The Aluminium Channel 6000 is tested and suitable for exterior applications as well as interior. Finish selection should take account of the environment: colour coating and anodized finishes offer better long-term performance in exposed outdoor settings than plain mill finish. Confirm your environment at quote stage and we’ll advise on the right finish specification.
42.4mm and 48.3mm round handrail options are available to combine with the Aluminium Channel 6000. Adding a handrail completes the system for staircase and ramp applications where a graspable rail is required under Approved Document K, and also adds a further design element to the finished installation.
Four standard finishes: mill finish, plain aluminium, stainless steel effect and colour coating. Any RAL colour is available to order — ideal for commercial projects, hospitality venues and residential projects with a defined colour scheme. Confirm your RAL reference at quote stage.
Yes, the Aluminium Channel 6000 system can form part of a compliant balustrade installation when the correct channel, glass and fixing configuration is selected for the project.
The TL6020 base-fixed and TL6021 side-fixed configurations have supporting structural-glass classification for BS 6180 applications up to 1.5 kN/m, depending on the specific configuration. Glass type, glass thickness, anchor type and fixing centres materially affect the available rating; for TL6021, the fixing-centre arrangement is particularly important.
The project must therefore be correctly surveyed and specified to establish the required loading and to ensure that the proposed configuration is covered by the applicable test or classification evidence.
The completed installation must also satisfy the applicable requirements of Building Regulations Approved Document K and other project-specific requirements.
The supporting structure and fixings must be suitable. For supply-only projects, the installer or project designer is responsible for confirming the substrate and selecting and verifying appropriate fixings.
Fixings need to be selected for the actual supporting structure, not simply the name of the material.
Concrete, brickwork, blockwork, timber and steel can all vary considerably in strength, condition and construction. For that reason, SWR cannot confirm that a particular fixing is suitable solely from a description of the substrate.
For supply-only projects, the installer or project designer is responsible for assessing the supporting structure and selecting and verifying suitable fixings capable of safely transferring the required balustrade loads into it.
SWR can provide the balustrade system loads and technical information to assist the installer, fixing manufacturer or engineer with this assessment. Where there is any doubt, advice should be obtained from the fixing manufacturer, a suitably qualified engineer or other competent person; site testing may also be appropriate.
