John’s Balustrade Looks Perfect by the Pool

John Barrat of Bushey in Herts was after a modern glass balustrade system as the old stone walls surrounding his pool were starting to look seriously worse for wear.
“Previously we had an old stone balustrade which became very unstable and dangerous when your children are running around,” John explained. “I looked you up on the internet and chose SWR because the system was so modular and could easily be tailored to our needs.”
SWR provides a full installation service but the customer was happy to install the balustrade himself. As mentioned, our modular systems are fully customisable and easy to fit together. The balustrade still had to be fabricated though, and cut down to the required dimensions before delivery – just one of many services carried out by our production team.

John wanted our glass modular system with round-shaped hand railing and gave our support team a drawing of how it would look round his swimming pool. From the drawing, our team worked out that four sections of round tubing, each 143cm in length, would need fabricating. Two smaller ‘return’ sections (those at 90° to a property) also required fabrication.
In order to adhere to building regulations, the customer wanted the height of his system to be 1100mm high. We calculated 1100mm high by deducting the handrail size, the component height and the chosen bottom fixing. This gave us the height of the post we needed to cut in our workshop.
Finally, we advised John to install the posts first then give us post-to-post measurements so we can calculate the glass widths. Deducting 50mm from each measurement allowed us to provide the perfect size of glass panes for the customer.
