Our Balustrade is the Queen Bee of Mike’s Extension

Mike Walters was happy with the recent single storey extension that had been built on his existing property. He particularly liked the flat roof but knew balustrade was necessary if he was going to enjoy the view in safety.The Story
He said: “I have two thriving colonies of honeybees in hives at the top of the garden. The flat roof was perfect for a balcony and as a great ‘look out’ point to observe the bees but obviously I needed some kind of fencing to go round it”
“My builders were still on site laying the balcony floor slabs so it made sense for them to install the balustrade too”.
After some research, Mike got an idea of the type of balustrade he wanted and wouldn’t need the supplier to fit it. However, finding the right company wasn’t as straightforward as first thought.
He found out that while many balustrade companies will supply and install, not many would do one or the other. Eventually he discovered SWR who were happy to provide exactly what he wanted.
He said: “Debbie (one of the Sales Executives at SWR) provided a first draft quotation on the same day. Within a couple of days we had the finalised sizes and prices agreed so the whole ordering process was very straightforward. SWR’s price was very competitive!”

Mike chose our glass modular system with round tubing as the balustrade for creating the look desired for his extension. The customer also wanted a screen that complemented the glass system while also maintaining his privacy when outside on the balcony.
Our glass system’s understated design ensures the view is always the focus and never interrupted. More importantly, the glass is toughened and fully tested to building regulations for complete safety. It’s fully modular too so flexible enough to create different configurations depending on your circumstance.
Although the customer was installing the system himself, our on-site workshop meant we could fabricate the glass before sending it to his home address. This included cutting the stainless steel down to the required size plus a full drilling/tapping service.
The Result
With the extension and glass balustrade now finished, Mike has the perfect balcony for looking out on the garden and his hives of honeybees.
He said: “The product meets my expectations and the builders tell me it was simple to install. SWR’s overall service was faultless. I particularly liked the speed and efficiency of communications from Debbie.
Once fabricated, the balustrade was carefully packaged and given to our preferred courier for next day delivery. Everything is now fitted and only accentuates the very modern look of the Jays’ home.
