SWR Balustrade Serves Up A Winner

The Berkhamsted Lawn Tennis Club & Squash Club is a Hertfordshire institution, first established in 1897.Background
It has 11 outdoor tennis courts, an indoor tennis centre, six squash courts, and other health facilities to make it the premier fitness centre in the area.
Overlooking the main tennis courts is the members bar with outdoor seating area. As the seating is on raised decking, a health and safety risk is posed without the right barrier to go around it.
The club contacted us for a balustrade system to go round the decking – one that was modern, fulfilled safety requirements and didn’t ruin the view for spectators.
Club Chairman, John Shaw, said: “We wanted to use a local firm. Our requirements weren’t straightforward, and we wanted to discuss things on-site when needed.
“From the outset, we wanted the complete package of design, product supply and installation – which SWR were able to provide.”

The customer wanted balustrade system that was safety tested and produced to standard specification in order to not affect the warranty.
We recommended the OnLevel 6020 Frameless Glass Channel System. A slimline balustrade system that is easy to install thanks to its innovative “FLEX FIT” system.
FLEX FIT adjusts the position of each glass panel up to 34mm in relation to the vertical axis, so the glass remains perfectly in line. Combined with a special, slim-fitting handrail, the balustrade provides an unobstructed view between the outdoor dining area and the tennis courts.
In total, we supplied and installed 55 metres of glass channel at the height of summer to create a safe, modern balustrade system that overlooked the tennis courts in style.
