Al Fresco Dining is Even Better at Barrafina Thanks to Our Balustrade

If you fancy Spanish cuisine then make a beeline for Barrafina. You’ll know when you’re there as it’s the restaurant on the upper floor, in the shade of the old gasworks and surrounded by eye-catching glass channels. SWR are proud to say we supplied and installed the glass channel system for this amazing property in London.

There were some challenges to overcome before the work could be finished however. The contract changed hands to RIB Joinery late in the process which meant SWR were hired to supply and install the balustrade just two weeks before the restaurant was opening. This gave us no room for error despite the quick turn-around time.

The project also required two detailed site surveys, both taken at different stages during the construction process. This was because other building work was going on at the time so we had to be sure the surrounding area remained the same while balustrade was being fitted.

Drawings were produced by the surveyor to ensure our fabricators could cut the aluminium track to the exact dimensions required. Once all preparation was finished, installing the glass channel system could begin.

Barrafina is located in a modern part of London so it was important the balustrade complemented the main building and blended with the wider district of Coal Drops Yard. Our frameless glass channel fulfils today’s need for clean, understated design that won’t compromise the view of the surrounding area.

This system is available in four different finishes: mill, aluminium, stainless-steel effect or coated in RAL colours. It’s also independently certified to ensure the highest standards of safety.
