When it comes to ordering custom glass, precision is key. To ensure the perfect fit, we strongly recommend that you install all surrounding components first. This allows you to take final, accurate measurements or create templates based on the actual space, rather than relying on plans or estimations that may change during installation. By measuring after the fittings are in place, you avoid costly mistakes and ensure a smooth process when requesting a quote. Taking this step first saves time, money, and a whole lot of hassle.
Below we hope to provide all the resources you need to ensure specifying your glass is easy.
1. Install All Surrounding Components
2. Check Levels and Squareness
3. Take Measurements or Create Templates
4. Submit Measurements for Quoting
5. Double-Check Before Ordering
To comply with Building regulations, there must not be a gap any greater than 100mm between glass and other materials. The following guides will allow you to measure perfectly for your glass balustrade.
· Toughened glass is required when a balustrade has handrail.
· Toughened and laminated glass is required when a balustrade doesn’t have a handrail.
· We specify all glass to have polished edges to make them softer.
· Corners can be either dubbed or polished, you will need to confirm your preference - See diagram right.
· The glass we supply is typically clear. If privacy glass is needed, please confirm.
· If shaped panels, the glazier will require a drawing or template upon manufacturing.
Delivery dates are based on a fluctuating lead time as well as the glaziers designated delivery dates against locations. We will endeavour to get your desired delivery dates and will update when confirmed.
Glaziers typically provide back of lorry delivery, meaning site is required to have people on site to offload the glass and take it to the installation location. When glass is being delivered on a stillage site may also be required to have a forklift.
Any specialised equipment needed for the offload of the delivery (i.e. forklifts) must be made aware of at point of order to allow for discussion of arrangement/change of transport.
Any possible restrictions to delivery (location, dates, times, size of vehicle) must be made apparent of at point of order. If not, additional delivery charges may apply.
Any glass defects must be notified to SWR within 24 hours and will require photo evidence for us to open an investigation.
